Parent- Teacher Conferences

This article explained how effective parent-teacher conferences need to take place in an atmosphere of trust. Confidentiality has to be ensured and both parties need to treat each other with respect. It is very important to include the child in setting goals and reviewing effective plans.

Parent- teacher communication is valuable in many ways. Responsibility needs to be shared between the teacher and parents to create a working relationship that fosters children’s learning and development. Teachers should also be culturally sensitive to the understanding of parents.

Parents and teachers have to understand how to address learning problems. First, both teacher and parent need to consider the context. Secondly, we have to identify what helps. Third, we can make a plan. And last, schedule a follow-up conference.

Addressing behavior problems is equally as important. Parents should have the teacher specify the behavior. It is very important to know all facts when trying to identify the behavior. Following that, examine the context. This is an essential aspect of comprehending why children act the way they do. Examining the teacher’s expectations is significant to working with the student. Teachers and parents should make a plan. Figuring out how to solve the problem will benefit the student. Also, having a follow-up conference gives the teacher the opportunity to express expected behavior.

A healthy parent- teacher relationship helps influence students to do excel. Parents and teachers need to build a rapport and have a relationship of trust. When students view their parents and teachers working as a team it may make them be more motivated.
